Diploma in Airline Transport Pilot, NCQF Level 6, 250 credits over two years. PPL, instrument, CPL, multi-engine turbine and instructor modules in one structured programme.
Diploma detail →NGAP Academy is a Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana approved training organisation. We train private and commercial pilots on a modern fleet, from first solo through instructor rating, at the country’s international airport.
ICAO launched the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) initiative in 2009 so enough qualified people would be ready to operate, manage and maintain the future air transport system. NGAP Academy takes that brief literally: we train pilots who can follow standard operating procedures from day one — and still think for themselves.
The school is based on the first floor at Lot 17401, Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, and is run by Darryl Ellitson, a former Air Botswana Chief Pilot. Training is built around a glass-cockpit carbon-fiber trainer and a utility 206 — aircraft chosen for the commercial work Botswana actually does.
The academy story
CAAB scope covers PPL, CPL, ground and flight instructor, class ratings, type ratings and refreshers. The BQA diploma folds that pathway into one two-year qualification.

The training fleet has included a pair of Italian Blackshape Prime carbon-fiber two-seaters — full glass cockpit, built for the commercial market — and a Cessna 206 for the utility flying that still defines much of Botswana aviation.
The point is not novelty. It is to produce pilots who already live in a modern cockpit and who treat checklists, radio and crew discipline as normal, not as an add-on after the licence.
